
Speeding Up Your Bake Without Burning the House Down
If you’re running a high-volume bakery, you already know the headache: the oven is always the bottleneck. Most convection ovens just heat up the air and hope for the best, which takes forever. It slows everything down. We do things differently. By putting shortwave infrared (SWIR) bulbs into deck ovens, we stop messing around with the air and hit the dough directly. It’s a simple shift in how the heat works, but it lets you crank up your units per minute without ruining the quality of the bread. Getting the heat where it belongs To really move the needle on throughput, you need a ton of power in a tiny space. That’s why we use high-voltage bulbs. They drive intense energy straight into the product. Because it’s shortwave, the heat sinks in faster than the medium or longwave stuff. It cuts down that agonizing ramp-up time. Your crust sets faster, your product spends less time sitting in the oven, and you get to move more trays. It’s just faster. The nitty-gritty on the hardware We make these tubes out of high-purity quartz. Why? Because they have to survive extreme thermal shock without cracking. Most of our bulbs use R7s or SK15 connectors, so they just slide right into your existing industrial sockets. No need to rebuild your whole line. We also add a special coating to the quartz. It basically “tunes” the heat so it doesn’t waste energy warming up the oven walls—it keeps the focus exactly where it needs to be: on the food. A word of caution on the stress Here’s the thing: when you speed up the cycle, you put more pressure on your gear. A high-wattage IR bulb is great for slashing bake times, but it dumps a massive amount of heat into the oven chassis. You can’t just plug them in and walk away. You’ve got to make sure your cooling fans and vents can handle the extra load. If you push the bulbs too hard without enough airflow, you’ll fry your sockets. And please, use high-temp leads. Nobody wants to deal with melted insulation in the middle of a peak production run.
