
Getting the Heat Right in Your Husky HyPET System
If you’re running high-speed PET blowing, you know the struggle. The biggest headache is usually the heat soak. When the preform doesn’t heat up evenly all the way through the wall, you end up with thin spots and bottles that just fail. It’s frustrating. That’s exactly why we built our replacement lamps. We wanted to fix that penetration problem once and for all. The science of the soak Here’s the thing: standard lamps usually just blast the surface. They don’t actually reach the core of those thicker preforms. We switched things up. We use a specific shortwave infrared spectrum that basically forces the heat deeper into the PET. By tweaking the wattage-to-length ratio, we’ve bumped up the heat density. What does that actually mean for you? You hit that glass transition temperature faster, but you don’t scorch the outside of the plastic. It’s a much cleaner heat. No fuss with the install We made these drop-in replacements. No hacking, no adjusting, no headaches. They fit the exact footprint of your original Husky gear, so you don’t have to worry about alignment. We also used treated quartz glass. These lines move fast and the temperature swings are brutal, so the glass needs to be tough. Plus, we reinforced the connectors. There’s nothing worse than a lamp wiggling loose because of machine vibration and causing an arc at the terminals. We’ve got that covered. A few things to watch out for Now, there is a trade-off. More penetration power means more heat is being dumped into your oven. Check your cooling blowers. If your vents are clogged or just aren’t powerful enough, that extra heat can raise the overall oven temp. If that happens, your preforms might start to deform before they even hit the mold. Once you swap these in, keep a close eye on your wall thickness. You’ll probably find you can shave a few seconds off your heating cycle. Just a heads-up: keep an eye on your power draw. You don’t want your transformers running at 100% capacity all day.
