When your infrared lamps aren’t pulling their weight equally, you end up with PET preforms that have weird wall thickness variations. It’s frustrating, and it kills your quality. We built our replacement lamps for the KOSME KSB 4000/6000 to fix exactly that. The goal is simple: make sure every single lamp in the oven bank is hitting the same power level. No outliers. No surprises. The problem with “standard” lamps Here’s the thing about off-the-shelf lamps: most of them drift by 5-10% in actual wattage. In a slow system, you might not notice. But in a high-speed rotary setup? That gap creates cold spots. We tighten the tolerance on the resistive filament so every tube puts out the same amount of heat. It keeps your heat profile flat and your preforms consistent. Built for the grind We use high-purity quartz glass because these things take a beating with rapid thermal cycling. They need to handle the shock without cracking. Plus, we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. You just pop them in. No rewiring your racks, no complicated setup. We also tuned the shortwave infrared emission to hit the PET plastic directly. Instead of wasting energy heating up the oven walls, the heat goes exactly where it belongs. Some real-world advice These lamps pack a punch to keep your cycle times low. But a word of caution: when you push maximum wattage, your cooling fans have to work harder. Check your ventilation. If it’s clogged or under-powered, you’re risking your lamp sockets. And please, keep those reflectors clean. A bit of dust on the quartz creates hot spots, and that’s the fastest way to blow a lamp. Just wire them up, dial in your PID controllers, and you’ll feel the difference in how consistently those preforms come off the line.
