When you’re pushing for high cycles, you can’t afford to wait around for your heating lamps to “wake up.” You need them hitting the target temperature now. The nitty-gritty on heat To keep up with high-speed PET blowing, it all comes down to how much power we can cram into every centimeter of the lamp. We’ve tuned the voltage and wattage to push out as much shortwave infrared as possible. The goal? Get that preform wall to the glass transition temperature quickly so you aren’t wasting precious dwell time. One quick tip: just double-check that your power supplies can handle the initial current surge during a fast start. You don’t want to be the person tripping breakers in the middle of a shift. No more “cold start” headaches Nobody likes those first few hundred bottles of a run—the ones with the defects because the machine wasn’t quite warm enough. We fixed that by using high-purity quartz glass to cut down on thermal lag. The filaments are calibrated to ramp up fast, so you hit full production speed almost immediately. Plus, we use standard industrial connectors. It makes the swap during a shift change quick and painless. A few things to keep in mind These lamps are tough. They’re built to handle the constant shaking and vibration of a rotary environment. But here’s the trade-off: because they run hotter to save you time, they’re harder on your reflector coatings. You’ll need to keep a closer eye on your mirrors. If they start to oxidize, the heat won’t hit the center of the preform, and you’ll end up with uneven walls. Keep a strict cleaning schedule. It’s the only way to keep that infrared focus sharp. And since these tubes react so quickly, make sure your cooling blow-air is dialed in perfectly. You don’t want the PET overheating during the stretch phase.
